I would definitely add a pad or two, give that saw a little verb and add a nice soft arpeggio to go along with it. :D But i like so far!

Interesting..
I like the feel you have going on here, but there must be changes!
The bass is clipping so extremely hard that I can't listen on heahphones.
Try side compressing those strings and the bass so it doesn't peak so much. And I would recommend pads to fill in that void that this track creates. Maybe a reverb or delay on the strings to bring them out more. Layer the piano with the strings, there needs to be more variety, but don't forget that intro as well/. (:

Pretty good! :D
The only Thing that bothers me is there doesn't seem to be any reverb, delay or layering to fill in the void that the track creates. I like your basses and your synths but it would sound fuller if you layered your synths and added some effects. :) Even a light verb on your basses would be nice. 4/5!

kinohmagik responds:

Good shout man I'll remember that for the next one.

Thanks for the feedback

I think the cutoff on the synth should have risen slower d: It'd give it more of a progressive feel, but I like what's going on here! :D

YakovlevArt responds:

Oh yeah man, the final is coming a long real nice.
I'll have to update this preview in a short time.

I feel like that intro was somewhat Knife Party inspired. :P I love the basslines in this, and you definitely nailed the Halloween feel with this one. The grawr bite bass really pulls it all together. Really liking it. :D

aaronmusslewhite responds:

I love knife party, yeah. :D They aren't the first to use a long sample based breakdown and they certainly didn't create that minor second horror movie walk thing but I know they were the first to put in dubstep so, yeah I was totally expecting that reference! But since it was a halloween song I thought what the hell itll be fun anyway! I'm excited to see if someone calls me on the other style that influenced this track a bit haha >:P

Thanks I'm glad you liked it! excited for everyone to hear it when it's done

I like the synth at the beginning but I think the chords should be brought out some more. (: And I don't really like the part where it just drops, you should add a tom drum drop right there to fill in that empty gap. (: A sub bass behind that melody would really bring this track together. You should listen to the preview of my Drum n Bass song "Air" (:
Your friendly neighbor, Detious.

LazyBucks responds:

Cheers for the review. Yeah, as I said its not nearly done and theres lots to add. I know, I hated the drop too, was thinking of ways to improve it.
Yeah, I'll have a listen for sure, thanks! ^.^

Love the piano chords, and the Tom drum drop you added, but the drop was extremely lacking. :p add a sub bass or a warm high pitched synth right at the drop and raise the drums on the high ends and it'd be a lot better. (:

kopacetic responds:

Thanks for the feedback! Will use your advice for my next DNB song :D

Some tips. So you're going for a "dark" style. I'd stay away from high pitched warm synths like the one you have. I'd also use a thicker punchier kick and snare to really go along with the bass. I like the bass though it seems kind of boring and unsatisfying. Not that it's bad it just needs some work. (: may e so e distortion or a bit rusher can do it justice, or even raising it an octave.

Hades369 responds:

Thanks for the pointers man! I'll definitely use a deeper synth and a thicker bass, and the drums i can enhance quite easily. Thanks again! It's people like you who make artists better, i appreciate it.

I really like the melody, the only thing I would suggest is to bring out the drums some more. It's hiding behind the synths. :p try EQIng or side chaining the drums. I like it though.
Sounds like a boss battle :o

Some pointers for making progressive house.
Your kick and snare are just 808 drums, try and get a punchier snare/clap.
And for progressive house it needs more..progression..lhence the genre. :p
So e reverb effects and delays would also work wonders on your synths, maybe try and add some effects as well (: give a listen to my house tracks if you want too :)
Goob job! Keep it up.

Behjamin responds:

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind :)
