CALM THE FUCK DOWN

DUUUUUUUDE. I'm not a fan of the mastering or the drums but that drop was too nuts!! We really need to work on something after showing me that craziness.

Xtrullor responds:

Mastering - I can never get it right lol.

But yeah, sure! Let's do some awesomeness!

Interesting production.. I'm not too much a fan of the trappy intro, but I like the layering of synths there.

The buildup was decent as well as the drop but there's some things that bug me.
The drums at the drop are kind of generic and quiet but they could be because of your compression.
Overall a good track but just a few production issues (:

Keep at it man!

Hmm not to sure what you guys mean by "mufflers" d: Do you guys mean compressors?

Anywho the song sounds like you put a lot of effort but there's always room for improvement (:
I think the drums are far too quiet and generic (for dubstep) look around for some better kicks, the snare wasn't bad but could use some body, maybe some verb too?

I thought the melody was nice just not developed, what I mean is you could expanded off that 4 bar melody in like the 2nd verse for some variety (:
The bassline notes are suuuuper generic, there's no problem with that necessarily, it's just been overused xD

The three things I really think you could work on are the transitions, the bass synths and your compression m8! Gotta get the compression down so your tracks don't sound so watered down!

Your transistions could use some work too, like in the beginning there was a piano then it just disappeared and was replaced by bass sounds which kinda threw me off. Also there was a defining build up for the drop which leaves listeners confused cause they didn't see it coming d:

What VST did you make the basses with? Keep refining them until they're super gnarly (:

Keep making music man! -Detious

Hyperion666 responds:

yeah i just finally learned and got the programs for it. I'm using Harmor and Massive for them. I will be practicing more and more, these are just my recent sounds i am playing around with, so i sample them when i am done making them, then use them in future projects possibly if i choose to. But, for now i am just playing around with stuff. Creating cool sounds, you know how it goes. But , about the stuff that was throwing you off, that is just my weirdness. I stray away from the norm A LOT lol, so expect that from me. I was not thrown off when you said that about my work I truly get that a lot. Thank you for your review, it is always beneficial for me.

P.S. the mufflers thing is to level evrything to a point of no ear damage or ear trash i.e. heavy drops without mass melodies just hardcoreness.

Interesting! I love the vintage feel it has, almost an 8 bit feel. It may be how the drums are eqed. d: Ah I really enjoyed the melody as well, maybe build off of it with some lowpassed chords? Or a little bell, maybe a reese bass? You got options man! 4.5/5

AdventorousBoy responds:

Thanks man! The chords/bell may work, but the track is meant to be more child out so a reese may not work. I'll try it out!

I can dig it, fershure. Loved the build up, great synths, pretty sick arrangement. The only thing I'd say you could work on is getting those drums to really pop through, the kick and snare seem a tad bit weak to me, but dude, sick track. 4.5/5 9/10 would play again

Pretty dope, some huge potential going on. I can tell it's still in that "draft" stage but with some better mixing this track could be huuuuuge. the only thing that really bugged was that snare, too glitch hoppy, so much highs d:

Xtrullor responds:

Argh.... I don't think I'll ever make a competed version of this. When I submit something, I call it done. The whole project was a big mess already so... fuck kit.

The snare sounded AWESOME while high though. Never ended up making it better due to that.

Hmm it's a good start..

If I'm correct that you're using massive (even though it's not FM) you can get a MUCH deeper, crunchier synth, cause right now it sounds like a gentle speech with some tiny modulations, I'm not hating or anything, I just thing the range of sounds you can get are way further than what you have :) keep synthesizing!
If not then which VST are you using? d:

ALSO it's really hard to hear the bass synth because of the compression, sidechain dude. sidechain. and if you already are, you need MORE (x

Norato responds:

IT´s made in Sytrus

I like it, idk why the guys below me are hating haha.

I do have some issues though.. There's waaaaaaaay too much reverb on some of those synths, your snare too. It opens it up but it's taking away from the drums.

I enjoy the arrangmenet and the synths though I'm not a fan of your compression.. Gotta get that kick to pop through the mix, more sidechain, try some free transient shaping VSTs.

Just work on your mixing and compression. :)

CowardlyLion responds:

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the constructive criticism. I've taken it into account and uploaded a remastered version with a more effectively compressed kick, reverb lightened on the synths I believe you were talking about, messed with the EQ on the snare and shortened the delay on the reverb and wet level, and edited the master settings in Ozone a bit. Hopefully it sounds a little better!
